Zhengzhou New District Transportation Core Area

鄭州市総合交通核心区

The primary requirement for this competition was to create a space in front of a railway station, which amongst the largest and most important in China. In order to respond to the requirement, we paid close attention to the design and thought of a concept, system, and regulations.

The main idea of our proposal was to install a ‘flux structure’ into the city. There are, needless to say, several ways to traverse inside a city such as trains, cars, and buses. Ultimately, despite whichever transportation mode is chosen, the user has to walk. An important characteristic of urban design is how it responds to pedestrian movement. Our proposal, the flux structure, will provide a rich spatial experience and an ever-changing array of activities which lead to an attractive urban experience.
